As a former bethelite, the experience is a jaded one and it does accelerate your seeing the flaws in the borg and wanting to get out. It was like dorothy, when she peered behind the curtain and found that there is no wizard............

Are Bethelites more likely to leave the JWs than others?
by Gill inhave you any experience of families whose sons have gone off to bethel and then decided to not have any more contact with their family and jws at all very soon after returning?.
i ask this question because i know of two families where this has been the case.. the first family had three sons who one after the other went to the london bether to 'serve' within a couple of years of eachother.. after three years there all three returned home completely different people.
they then left home, left dub land, two married non jws and another lives with his girlfriend.

On The Art Of Fading
by expatbrit inin october of 2000, i faded away from the watchtower.
like most people, i have family and friends who are jw's (including my wife and parents).
fading is generally the best method for people in that situation.

Continuing to lay the groundwork for my exit.
by ithinkisee inwell, last night i was completely determined to tell my wife just three things i had learned.
i was just going to focus on lies - not scripture, or stupid stuff ... just lies.. 607/1914trinity (trinity brochure lies)cross (reasoning book lies and archeaology).
if she starts to question other stuff, or if she starts in on a debate about the trinity, i was going to shut her down and let her know i am willing to talk to her about that - but not right now.

Longtime JWs: Can you recall the path of JW doubts throughout your life?
by ithinkisee inhave any of you who were ever "raised in the truth" really traced your doubts back to as early as you remember?
i would be interested in hearing what they were.. i started tracing my path of doubts.
doubts as a child:.

JWs - What Proves That They're a Cult
by Black Man ini think one major point that proves that the jw's are a cult is that you can't leave without being stigmatized.
all you have to do for other religions is take your name of the membership log or just resign.
for jw's you can't leave unless you're df'd or da'd.

Bethel: Pathway to Apostasy
by Black Man inat the 'big house' you go either one of two ways, company man or apostate.
i think for many that went, it demystified the whole organization and you saw firsthand that there wasn't holy spirit influencing anything - only the muses of sheltered, out-of-touch old men and political bureaucrats.
i work in the corporate world and i saw just as much if not more politics in bethel.

What is G-JOBBING for Bethelites?????????
by JT inhad enough asked :.
if you haven't already related to us the experiences at bethel that you told to your mom-in-law, (or even if you already have told us) could you tell us about what you told her.....and...what is "g-jobbing" (sorry for my naivity) .
i didn't want to take away from sl post about his mother but i thought a little insight into the world of the bethelites would be interesting this am.

Glad this has been brought back. Anybody remember Russell Kurzin? Older white brother who was at the house forever? When I was there, he really didn't have to much of a job to do. He'd be in the library checking out the latest newspapers for the stock market index. THAT'S RIGHT, OLD RUSS PLAYED THE STOCK MARKET. Kind of like legalized gambling. Anyway, while the big house was cracking down on me and my little weekend 'G-Job', old Russ was raking in cash off the stock market. Gotta love it...............

Are things really that bad?
by gringojj ini was just reading a post from someone and it said that the world is a paradise now, we just have to accept it.
it made me think, the jws are always saying how bad things are now and that they are just getting worse.
so im wondering, are things really that bad?

Well, I'd say that over 150 years or so ago, blacks were slaves. I think we're doing a hell of a lot better now..............

WHY DO YOU INSIST on clinging to the Bible as anything other than fiction?
by Terry inhave you made the same effort investigating the history of how scripture was written down, compiled, redacted and selected as you did reinforcing your jw doctrines week after week at the kingdom hall?.
if you have; then you know it cannot be factual.. there have always been agendas.
the people with the agendas needed to wield power and using an invisible backup agent was a great device for controlling others.. somebody is always insisting they have an invisible and mysterious source of divine information and selling it like hotcakes and syrup.

Terry,
This is a damn good thread. I feel a lot of what you're saying, even though I'm not sure I agree with you on everything. But at this point, I'm really not sure what it is I agree or disagree with you and others on this thread. But this a damn good thread, that I'll have to later on go home and marinate on. It's just a freaking joy to have my cerebral fires stoked..........................
